HUGS for Moms
Wednesdays at 9:30 – 11:15 a.m. in Room 132 (unless otherwise noted)
HUGS observes the Rochester Community Schools calendar. When schools are closed, HUGS will not meet.
To reserve childcare, use the HUGS reservation signup at least 3 business days prior to the first class.
April HUGS Meetings & Monthly Mission: We meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:15 am. in Room 132. Our April mission involves helping plant the seedlings for St. Paul’s Community Garden with Rob Patten!!! This is a fun family activity. Please bring the toddler set, too -there will be many hands to help them.

Please note, we offer free childcare but we ask that you sign up for childcare by the preceding Sunday at midnight so we can make sure we have the proper ratio of wonderful caregivers!
Please note: If the Rochester Schools are closed for weather-related reasons, HUGS is cancelled as well.
April 3 Wild Card Wednesday – You survived the chaos of both Christmas & Lent/Easter, but we’re heading into the homestretch for the school year! Let’s recharge with great conversation and goodies.
April 10 Crafts and Conversation – we’ll have a simple craft and plenty of conversation and treats! We’re making Scripture tags so bring stickers or markers if you’d like to add embellishments. We’ll have preprinted verses, but feel free to make one with your own favorite verse!
April 17 Mindfulness – Our own Carmelita Samuel will help us regain our peace as we head into the craziness of the last leg of the school year…
April 24 If I Knew Then What I Know Now… BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!! A Panel of “veteran” moms, including Michelle Grundhofer, Jodi Stuermer, Jen Archey & Susan Sonye, agreed to return to share their wisdom and love. They understand the challenges and have a few tips to let us know we’re not alone! Come with questions for our panel.
Wednesday LUNCH BUNCH 11:30-12:30. For our working mommas, if you can sneak away from the office, please join us for lunch today! For the toddler/preschool set, feel free to bring your little guys with you!

May 1 March Madness … In May! – True to our promise of a surprise twist, we’re narrowing down our Bible Verses to a final vote. In case you didn’t join us in March, we are playing a bracket of Biblical passages vying for the HUGS’ theme guiding our studies for next year! You won’t want to miss the excitement!
May 8 Rummage Sale! Come help us sort and organize and as an added bonus to our helpers, do a little pre-shopping as well! Our regular childcare is available for this week (also on Friday if you’d like to help out with the rummage sale!). Feel free to come as early as 9am or stay for lunch. Questions? May 15 Beat the Next Chapter Blues with… Bluey?!? – The preschool set knows what we’re talking about: The Emmy winning animated show follows Bluey and her family, providing subtle lessons for children and parents. We are watching a few episodes to spark a conversation about kiddos in transition; to help whether they’re starting kindergarten, ready for life after graduation or anywhere in between!
May 22 Final End of Year Celebration: NOTE: Time & Location change 11:45-1:15 in the Parlor. All year we have been focusing on ways to act justly, embrace kindness and walk humbly with God. So let’s celebrate what we have accomplished! Join us for great conversation and food as we celebrate spring and catch up with friends. Bring a dish to pass if you can – a formal evite will be sent closer to the event.
May 29 Happiness Is… A Walk in the Park: NOTE: Time & Location change 10 – 11 a.m. at the Rochester Municipal Park. (park in the lot by the Police Station side of the park). Off campus. Let’s start the “summer HUGS season” with a nice morning stroll while the kiddos are still in school.

Coming in July: Cookies with Lynn Loebs – time and date tbd. We’ll learn how Lynn makes her incredible decorated cookies and try our hand at decorating! We’ll have a signup to make sure we have enough cookies to decorate and take a free-will donation to benefit the Youth Mission Trip next year.
