HUGS for Moms

Wednesdays at 9:30 – 11:15 a.m. in Room 132 (unless otherwise noted)

HUGS observes the Rochester Community Schools calendar. When schools are closed, HUGS will not meet.

To reserve childcare, use the HUGS reservation signup at least 3 business days prior to the first class.

JANUARY HUGS Meetings &  Monthly Mission: We’ll continue to meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:15 am. in Room 132.  Our mission from January through March is warming the hearts of our Rochester Area Neighborhood House friends with soup.  They are in need of the following:  Cream of Mushroom, Tomato, Veggie, Beef Varieties and Beef Stock (they have plenty of chicken varieties).  We’ll collect items each week in January and bring them to the RANH at the end of the month. Stay tuned for social opportunities outside of our regular meeting time!  Our most up to date info for the month will be in our emails and our private FB page.  Please reach out to Sue Evans or Steph Walker if you’d like to be added.  We are happy to report that we have resumed offering free childcare!  There is a Sign Up Genius link that we can provide you that can be used for the remainder of the year.  Please note, you need to sign up for childcare by the preceding Sunday at midnight so we can make sure we have our wonderful caregivers!

10  Mugs & Hugs – OFF CAMPUS – The school-age set is likely basking in the afterglow of a great Christmas break but exhausted from all the merriment.  So let’s plan on meeting up for casual conversation and well-deserved rest and relaxation at Green Cup Café (896 S Rochester Rd. Rochester Hills, MI 48307).  Pop over when you can, starting at 9:30 and staying til 11:00 or so.  Kiddos are welcome!  There are always plenty of helping hands to help out with the littles.  Please feel welcome to come whether this is the first time you’ve been to HUGS or whether you are a seasoned veteran!

17  Beat the Winter Blues – You survived the chaos of the Christmas season, but the winter is still young.  So let’s take a moment to catch our breath, check in with each other and gear up for snowy days ahead.  We can discuss ways to keep the morale strong in your homes as the kiddos (and their parents) develop cabin fever. . . .

24  If I Knew Then What I Know Now…:  BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!  A Panel of “veteran” moms, including Jodi Stuermer, Jen Archey & Susan Sonye, agreed to return to share their wisdom and love.  They understand the challenges and have a few tips to let us know we’re not alone! Come with questions for our panel.

31  Outreach project – We are creating S’More type goody bags for our preschool families to let them know there’s always room for “s’more” friendly faces at HUGS!  Stay tuned for a signup for supplies for our bags.

Wednesday LUNCH BUNCH at the end of the month: 11:30-12:30. This month, we switch it up and declare the final Wednesday of the month as our Lunch Bunch.  We are inspired by the weather to do things a bit differently – so we will have soup in addition to salad.  If you can linger, you can opt to bring an ingredient to include in a salad or a pot of soup to extend our fellowship through lunch.  For the toddler/preschool set, feel free to bring your little guys in with us as we linger over conversation and lunch.

January 31 Girls Night Out, In (GNO/GNI):  OFF CAMPUS 7:00-10:00.  Can’t make it for a day-time event?  No worries!  Come to Sue’s house (4657 Fawn Hill Court, Rochester 48306) for some fellowship in the evening.   In addition to great conversation and a game or two, we’ll map out the “hot spots” we want to hit during 2023 for our GNO social evening events.  Bring a light snack or dessert to share and Sue will cover the beverages.  For new members or moms who haven’t checked us out yet, this is a great event to meet everyone in a casual, fun atmosphere!
