The Choirs of St. Paul's United Methodist Church

MUSIC MINISTRIES

 

"Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord." Ephesians 5:19

This schedule is in effect during the choir season every year:
the second week in September through the second week in June.

Music is truly a gift from God, a gift that blesses each of us on an on-going basis.  If you are musical, or would just like to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord, " we have a place for you in the music program at St. Paul's.  Please join us.  You will be glad you did!
 

Youth & Adult Music

Chancel Choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. worship service September through the first Sunday in June and performs major works with orchestra twice during the music season.  Chancel Choir is open to those in 10th grade through adult and rehearses Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in Room 106 (the Music Room).

Children's Music
Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

 

Epworth Choir  provides music for our 9:00 a.m. Worship Service, September through the first Sunday in June.  Membership is open to those in 8th grade through adult.  The Epworth Choir rehearses Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. in Rickard Chapel..

Joyful Noise Choir (Toddler-Age 4), will meet in Room 125, Cherub Choir   (Age 3-2nd grade) will meet in room 123, and Crusader Choir (grades 3-7): will meet in room 106 (the Music Room) for an hour of musical rehearsal under the directions of Karen Rider (Joyful Noise), Andrea Arnold (Cherubs) and Karen Fisher (Crusaders).  Anthems are presented approximately once a month at either the 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. Worship Service or at the 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Service.

Youth Choir sings periodically at the 9 and 11 a.m. Worship Services.  Rehearses Thursdays at 6 p.m. in the Rickard Chapel.

Dr. Wm. Jean Randall, Director of Music

Wesley Ringers - Our adult handbell choir.  The Wesley Ringers plays monthly in both Sunday services September through June.  In addition to participating in worship, the group plays for weddings, funerals, and regularly attends bell festivals and symposiums throughout the United States.  the Wesley Ringers rehearse on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in Room 104.

Canterbury Ringers:  Mid-High bell choir.  Meets in the Bell Room Thursdays at 6:30

St. Paul's Brass rehearses and plays on an as-needed basis.  If you are interested in being added to the St. Paul's Brass roster, please contact Dr. Randall (248-651-9361, ext. 112)or Nancy Boughner (ext. 111) in the music office.  The group is currently in need of horn player and a trumpet player. 

 

In addition to these regularly scheduled ensembles, there are many opportunities for soloists or independent groups to provide special music during our Sunday morning worship services throughout the year.  Please contact Dr. Randall for scheduling information.

St. Paul's Winds - High school through adults who play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn; intermediate to advanced players.  Play for Sunday services several times per year.  Rehearsals - Mondays, 6:30 p.m. - Sanctuary.  Coordinator: Jane Giudici (get her phone number from the Church office).  Or contact Dr. Randall (248-651-9361, ext. 112)or Nancy Boughner (ext. 111) in the music office.

Wesley Ringers

Summer Choir provides music for the 10:00 a.m. service during the summer months.  Rehearsals are on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m., so bring the family, have a donut, learn a fun anthem, and praise God through music.  Check your Evangel and the Music Department web page  for the Summer Choir schedule or contact Nancy Boughner in the music office for more information.
