Class Coordinator: Jeanne Gable
Humor, Understanding, Growth, and Support for mothers and grandmothers of all ages
Note: If Rochester Schools have a snow day on a Wednesday, there will be no HUGS.
H.U.G.S., A Forum for Moms of All Ages, resumes on Wednesday, September 8th at 9:30 a.m. in Richard chapel. We encourage Moms of kids of all ages (this means grandmas, too), to be a part of this remarkable and special fellowship.
Our September study, "Focus on Faith," will be an exciting start to the year . . . discussions include:
- September 8th ~ Developing Authentic Faith for Our Kids. Looking at how Bible stories are taught vs. how kids hear them . . . how to teach the stories so kids don't have to "unlearn" them later in their lives . . . teaching so that the message is more essential than the details. We will also discuss how to help teens who may need to unlearn and relearn some matters of faith in order to reshape their faith journey meaningfully for their adult lives.
- September 15th ~ Finding Common Ground in Matters of Faith. The discussion centers on when spouses, other family members, and/or friends come from, or are in, different faith places than we are . . . how to manage those differences. We will also discuss situations when our older kids seek other religious/spiritual paths from ours . . . or they want to "sign off" altogether where church is concerned.
- September 22nd ~ Finding Holy Ground in our lives and How to be Sacramental in daily life.
- September 29th ~ The Sacraments . . . What Are They? How do they differ from denomination to denomination, religion to religion? Baptism . . . infant or adult . . . what decision to make? Can we be baptized twice? In order to participate in Communion, when is the right time - how old should kids be? How does the purpose/meaning of Communion vary from denomination to denomination.
Associate Pastor, Latha Ravi, will be assisting in facilitating our discussions . . . there will be JOY and purposeful activities as part of our time together. Childcare is available- register with Stacie Buckler at stacie@stpaulsrochester.org by Friday, September 3rd.
WE ARE HUGS
There have been, and will be, new babies born . . .
And loved ones lost . . . cycles of life before our eyes.
Kids have been shuttled off to college … or to kindergarten …
Kids are learning to drive …
Some have learned to ride bikes …
And others have learned to go potty!
For some of us, there has been too much alone time, perhaps.
For others, not enough …
We’ve had husbands in and out of the country …
Husbands at home for the summer …
We’ve lost jobs and found jobs …
Some of us are going back to school.
Most of us are in transitions in our lives …
Nests emptying …
Kids in school all day for the first time …
We’ve met new friends … friends to bring to HUGS …
And had to say goodbye to others moving away.
But through it all …
We are HUGS
And here we are … ready for a new year together.
A new year of:
- Loving each other
- Caring for each other
- Being there for each other
- Praying for each other
- Learning from each other
- Laughing together and crying together
- Understanding in intimate ways what it means to be a Mom …
WE ARE HUGS . . .
- A Community of Moms
- A Neighborhood of Women
- A Circle of Faith, Fellowship, and Friends together.
Welcome.
WE ARE HUGS!!!
And we give God the praise and glory for who we are as individuals, and who we are collectively in this very special circle of love together.
Newcomers are always welcome … please join us at any time for lots of love and laughter!
